CHARACTER NAME: Nathan Explosion
CANON: Metalocalypse
CANON POINT: Directly following the ending of the finale film, Army of the Doomstar
AGE: There's no canon age given, but he's in his 30s. I give him about 34. Since this is a cartoon series that's continued (on-and-off) for almost two decades, ages are pretty handwaved in the show. We see Nathan prior to his first album's release, in his early 20s, and we see him now, several albums and a lot of fame later, so I say about ten years have passed between those flashback moments and the present day.
BACKGROUND: Here!

✦ ✦ ✦ ✦ ✦ ✦

SUITABILITY: As Metalocalypse is a black comedy series which parodies fame, celebrity culture, and influence, coming to the world of Sinfluencers will be pretty similar to existing in his normal canon. Since the show is a hyperbolic satire, Nathan Explosion is one of the most famous people who's ever lived in the history of famous people, compared to historical figures like Stalin in regard to his levels of influence. If anything, Nathan will find that he feels underwhelmed by the level of celebrity he has in this game. He's so used to people knowing him and catering to his needs, he'll likely be put off by the fact that people in this world treat him like a regular person.

Likewise, with regard to Sinfluencers' approach to sex, Metalocalypse also has a large focus on the drugs, sex, and rock 'n' roll life of Nathan and his bandmates. Casual sex with strangers is nothing new, but the concept of broadcasting the intimate details of his sex life, or engaging in sexual acts with the knowledge that people are watching — that's going to take some getting used to. He's going to hate that. He can't imagine anything worse than letting a bunch of losers watch him fuck. Ew, gross, yuck.

Additionally, Nathan is shown as being among the least social media savvy of the group. His selfies are atrocious, and his bios on dating sites read like they were written by an internet troll instead of being writen in earnest. He knows technology, and he knows how to use a phone, but he's not great at connecting with fans. It's because of his immense talent that he's earned himself a following, not because of his winning personality. In a space where likability is the selling point, he's going to struggle.

CHARACTER ARC PLANS: This game works incredibly well given Nathan's canon and the ending of the movie! The series as a whole follows this band as they transition from being selfish assholes to becoming self-sacrificing and outwardly loving. That said, I don't think all the lessons of the movie are going to stick immediately, and I don't think Nathan's going to come into the game a radically changed, selfless person without taking some time to get there.

Since his fame came to him very easily in the world Metalocalyspse, he'll likely grow frustrated when he doesn't sing a song and become famous overnight here in Sinfluencers. At the start, I'd like for Nathan to be as he is through the series — abrasive, insulting, and overall annoyed by his fans and his fame [or lack there of]. He's annoyed that he doesn't have fans, and he's annoyed when he gains them. He's just an unhappy camper all around.

But, over time, through the necessity of having to appeal to his fans in order to fulfil his contract, plus the added benefit of seeing that fans are actually, genuinely cool, I think Nathan can become more like where the ending of the movie wants him to be, humbled and grateful. I like the idea that instead of resenting his fans, he learns to value them. For example, I think Nathan asking his fans for advice, or coming to them when he's feeling vulnerable could be a huge step considering the way he usually treats them.

COLLATERAL: Nathan's wish is to help the world get back to normal after the catastrophic events of Army of the Doomstar. He sees his time in this game as his punishment for messing up when it came time to save the day, so he's going to try and do things right by working hard to get followers in order to fix the world that he had a part in ruining.

As collateral — since this is directly after the events of the movie and Nathan is still feeling the weight of heroism — he's going to offer up his voice in exchange. If he fails, he'll never be able to sing again.

ADDITIONAL CONTRACT CLAUSES: Knowing that this is coming, Nathan would like to have one last day with his bandmates before being brought into the game. Since he believes that this is a task he has to complete alone, he won't let them know that he plans on leaving for Sinfluencers. He'd like a nice, normal day of eating chips, doing drugs, and pranking each other. I'm not sure what would be best in exchange for that last day, so you can come up with whatever sounds good!

✦ ✦ ✦ ✦ ✦ ✦

PERSONALITY: Caring, egotistical, rational, observant, emotionally constipated
INVENTORY: Maybe a photo of the band, and a copy of their first album? Nothing too crazy!
SKILLS/ABILITIES: Nathan's main (see only) ability is music; he's pretty horrible at everything else. He can sing, and he can tell you the history of any genre, and he can write songs, and he can break down chord structures note-by-note — but he can't call and order a pizza without taking an hour to decide.  He's described as a musical savant, but that's all he has going for him. He's also the focus of an ancient prophecy destined to save the world from ending with the power of music, but let's save that for the next section.

GAMEBREAKING POWERS? Dethklok are the subject of The Church of the Black Klok and have been heralded as the band destined to save the world from ancient, evil forces. In truth, this is largely a subplot that runs parallel to the main silly story of each episode. In canon, the Dethklok members have only been able to access these ancient powers twice, and only when they've all been all united. I don't see this as something that comes up organically within the game since I don't believe any of them will be able to access these powers in full on their own. Even with the band all united, I don't think they'd have the focus or patience to try and connect to their superpowers unless they're pushed to, or if another world-ending catastrophe occurs.

Maybe Nathan can open a door from across the room if he really, really tries, but I don't plan on doing much more with these.
